No more eyesore!

Woo hoo - our massive eyesore of a chimney pipe is finally gone! It took a torch and a large boom crane (it's nice to have connections) to take it down. I'm sure our neighbors are rejoicing too. One of the previous owners of our house was a unique individual with some odd ideas. He installed a huge old boiler stove in the basement, tied it into the vent system, and put up an enormous chimney pipe for it. We're still trying to figure out how best to get rid of the boiler stove which will probably require torching it into pieces small and light enough that we can get them up the stairs. Now with the chimney down we can build our deck this summer (ok, not we, Pete can build it - he loves it when I try to share credit for his hard work). At least that is if I get my way but Pete probably has other projects in mind to do first, there are so many to choose from.

scales and scrapbooking

Since the boys didn't have school on Friday, we took them to see the touring "Walking With Dinosaurs" show. Trevor thought it was awesome. Logan who hasn't been feeling well off and on the past few days, fell asleep during intermission and slept through the rest of the show. It was pretty cool, though it probably would have been better with seats in the lower bowl. And I feel it was a bit overpriced.

Along a similar reptilian and scaley note, we returned home last night to find that Genesis (our snake) had shed her skin. Which I will admit was pretty cool to see.

I'm looking forward to the holiday tomorrow since I'm off work and I usually try to set aside some time on such days to get some scrapbooking done. I have been neglecting it for some time, pretty much ever since Kylie was born 2 years ago. But I have a new table and storage unit from IKEA and I just reorganized my supplies, so I now have the itch to spend some time there using all the supplies I've collected over the years (which is more than I'll probably ever use).

So Sweet!

"Pour some SUGAR on me..."

How sweet it was! Utah put on a show and spanked Alabama last Friday in the Sugar Bowl. It was an exciting and entertaining game to watch (unless you were an Alabama fan of course, and maybe a die-hard BYU fan). I enjoyed the game with my parents, my brother Chuck and his wife Kerianne and the kids were good to play in the other room and let us watch the game mostly in peace (a small miracle). I don't want to start any arguments or long discussions, but in my opinion the Utes deserve their shot at a National Championship - at least to play for it! Now if only the BCS would pull their heads out of their wallets and see what the rest of us want is a playoff system. Ok, I'm done with my soap box now.
